This presentation will include a definition about what The Neuroexperiential Model (NEM) is and some information about how it was developed and how it can relate to Music Therapy. Information about the cutting-edge trauma treatment of Brainspotting will be shared and the possibilities for Music Therapists to become certified in this treatment and how Music Therapist and Brainspotting can be integrated.

Presenter Bios: 

Colleen Klym received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy in the year 2000 from the University of Dayton. Since that time, she has worked with numerous populations across the United States from young children and parents working to create a secure attachment, to geriatrics with and without a form of dementia. Colleen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a certification in Brainspotting. She is also a Brainspotting consultant and is passionate about integrating Brainspotting and Music Therapy and encouraging Music Therapists to learn and integrate Brainspotting in their work. She provides trauma care using expressive arts, and play therapy through a lens of attachment and the Neuroexperiential Model
