Abstract:
Currently in Russia music therapy is not commonly offered among services in social rehabilitation, hospitals, orphanages, hospices, schools or assisted living facilities, there are no standards for music therapy profession, and no degree training program is in effect. Nevertheless, there is a wide spectrum of specialists and organizations using music for therapeutic work with various populations, as well as keen interest in theoretical and practical matters of music therapy. This presentation is focused on overview of therapeutic music practices, national and cultural specifics of therapeutic use of music, and perspectives for standardized music therapy education in Russia.

- Participants will learn about organizations in Russia currently offering therapeutic applications of music in education, medical and rehabilitation settings, including orphanages and institutions.
- Participants will understand national and cultural specifics of music therapy development in Russia.

About the Presenter:
The presenter, Alisa Apreleva (legal name: Tatiana Kolomeytseva), MA, MT-BC, is a Russian-born music therapist, who practices and teaches both in the US and Russia. She is a clinical training supervisor at Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) and a founder of Muzterapevt.Ru – nonprofit educational initiative to advocate for evidence-based music therapy in Russia.
