Many of our clients and their families have vastly different views and opinions about the cause(s) of autism. The modern day music therapist must be sensitive and aware of these “hot topics” in light of our Code of Ethics, such as: cure vs acceptance, opposing views on biomedical and behavioral interventions, and identity-first vs person-first language.
